Katharine Houghton Hepburn was born into a wealthy family in Hartford, CT May 12, 1907. She attended Bryn Mawr College where, as a member of the drama club, she developed her passion for acting. She went on to win four Academy Awards:

1934 - Best Actress for Morning Glory
1968 - Best Actress for Guess Who's Coming to Dinner
1969 - Best Actress for The Lion in Winter
1982 - Best Actress for On Golden Pond

She became an author near the end of her acting career. He first book, published in 1983, was World Of Stories: Six Stories, she followed with The Making of The African Queen, or: How I went to Africa with Bogart, Bacall and Huston and almost lost my mind, which is now in its 14th edition. Her #1 best selling autobiography Me: Stories of My Life was published in 1991 and is now in its 37th edition. She followed with a second biography about her younger years Little Me published in 1996. She also wrote The Private World of Katharine Hepburn in 1990, Katharine Hepburn Once Said...: Great Lines to Live By in 2003.  She also wrote Spencer and Me a book about her long relation with actor Spencer Tracy.
