The grave of Katharine Houghton Hepburn, the four time Academy Award winning actress who became an author later in life, is located in Cedar Hill Cemetery, 453 Fairfield Avenue, Hartford, CT. She is buried in a shaded family plot marked by a large boulder inscribed HEPBURN. Her grave is marked by a granite headstone set at ground level which is inscribed:

She became an author near the end of her acting career. He first book, published in 1983, was World Of Stories: Six Stories, she followed with The Making of The African Queen, or: How I went to Africa with Bogart, Bacall and Huston and almost lost my mind, which is now in its 14th edition. Her #1 best selling autobiography Me: Stories of My Life was published in 1991 and is now in its 37th edition. She followed with a second biography about her younger years Little Me published in 1996. She also wrote The Private World of Katharine Hepburn in 1990, Katharine Hepburn Once Said...: Great Lines to Live By in 2003. She also wrote Spencer and Me a book about her long relation with actor Spencer Tracy.
