The Boxcar Children is a series of children's book written by Gertrude Chandler Warner. The books are centered around the adventures of four orphaned children, Henry, Jessie, Violet and Benny Alden, who live in an abandoned railroad boxcar. They are confronted with and solve many mysteries without parental supervision.

Gertrude Chandler Warner was born in Putnam, CT on April 16, 1890. We was a 1st grade teacher. Once when she was at home due to sickness the came up with the idea for the Boxcar Children books. During her lifetime show wrote the following series of Boxcar Children books: Link
